Article 234.4.3 (Illegal acquisition or possession for the purpose of sale, manufacture, production, processing, transportation, transfer, or sale of narcotic drugs or psychotropic substances in large quantities) of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

On the evening of December 4, 2022, he was detained at a bus stop near his home near the "20 January" circle by civilians and taken to an unknown location without authorization or witnesses. His relatives later learned that he had been arrested by officers from the 3rd Police Department of the Khazar District of Baku. At the station, he was subjected to brutal torture to force him to confess, but he refused.

On December 6, 2022, the Khazar District Court of Baku imposed a four-month prison sentence as a preventive measure to continue the investigation. The Khazar District Court subsequently extended the sentence periodically for the duration of the investigation.
