Article 234.1-1 (Illegal acquisition or possession of narcotic drugs or psychotropic substances in quantities exceeding personal consumption, committed on a large scale) of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
On March 9, 2023, Murad Abdullayev was detained by officers from the 27th Yasamal District Police Department. On the same day, the Yasamal District Court of Baku sentenced Murad Abdullayev to four months of pretrial detention pending investigation. His pretrial detention was subsequently extended several times.
