On the morning of March 15, 2024, Tarlan Sayadov left his home and rode his bicycle to work. Contact with him was lost, and his family had no information about him for a long time until his wife, Nubar Sayadov, called the 14th Police Department in the Sabunchu District of Baku. It was discovered that the 14th Police Department had already opened a criminal case against Tarlan. Nubar Sayadov then went to the police station to clarify the situation, but she encountered violence from the police at the station.
On March 20, 2024, Tarlan Sayadov called his wife from the pretrial detention center and said that he had been brutally beaten at the police station and, unable to withstand the torture, was forced to confess to drug possession.
