The health of Imran Aliyev, the arrested head of the online platform Meclis.info, has deteriorated, with back and joint pains that started during his detention intensifying. His father, Baghir Aliyev, reported this.
"The prolonged detention and the dragging court process negatively affect Imran's physical and psychological state. Court sessions are periodically postponed. The last time a session was scheduled for October 14, Imran was told the day before that the hearing would not take place. However, the next day, literally half an hour before the session, he was taken to court. Imran said his body ached and he could not go. But they forcibly dragged him to court, without even allowing him to put on his shoes, taking him directly in his slippers. This completely broke him, causing a nervous breakdown," B. Aliyev noted.
He stated that the next court session is scheduled for November 4.
Imran Aliyev, the head of the Meclis.info website, was detained on April 18, 2024. He was charged with smuggling. On March 7, 2025, it became known that activist Elgiz Gahraman also became an accused in Aliyev's case and was placed under police supervision. Following the investigation, Aliyev and Gahraman were charged under eight criminal articles, including illegal entrepreneurship resulting in large-scale income, legalization of criminally obtained property (money laundering), smuggling as part of an organized group, tax evasion, and document forgery. They face up to 12 years in prison.
