The Narimanov District Court of Baku ordered the arrest of Vugar Gadirli, an activist of the Imishli District organization of the Popular Front Party of Azerbaijan (PFPA), for a period of 3 months.

According to the party, Gadirli is accused of illegal possession of firearms. “However, this is a false accusation. On December 12, Vugar Gadirli was detained in the Imishli district, and searches were conducted at the cafe where he works and at his home. During the search of his house, a weapon was 'discovered,' which, according to his relatives, was planted on Vugar Gadirli by plainclothes police officers themselves. Vugar Gadirli was then taken away in an unknown direction. Now it turns out that he was brought to Baku and charged with a false accusation,” said a PFPA representative.

The party believes that Gadirli is being persecuted for political reasons.
