Azərbaycanda prokuror müxalif bloger Tural Sadıqlının əmisi Elmir Sadıqovun qanunsuz silah dövriyyəsi işi üzrə üç il azadlıqdan məhrum edilməsini istəyib. Müdafiə tərəfi E. Sadıqovun təqibini əsassız hesab edir və məhkəmədən ona bəraət verilməsini xahiş etmək niyyətindədir.

In Azerbaijan, the prosecutor has requested three years of imprisonment for Elmir Sadygov, the uncle of opposition blogger Tural Sadygly, in the case concerning illegal arms trafficking. The defense considers the prosecution of E. Sadygov unfounded and intends to ask the court to acquit him.

On September 26, at the trial of E. Sadygov in the Sabunchi District Court of Baku, the state prosecutor delivered his closing arguments and asked the court to sentence E. Sadygov to 3 years of imprisonment.

E. Sadygov denies the charges.

His brother, human rights activist Alovsat Sadygly, stated that the charges against Elmir Sadygov are fabricated and that the defendant is being persecuted with the aim of revenge for the criticism of the Azerbaijani government by his nephew, opposition blogger Tural Sadygly, who is currently in political emigration in Europe.

E. Sadygov was arrested in April of this year on charges of "illegal storage of weapons."

The Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) did not comment on E. Sadygov's arrest.
