The press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs reported that Agil Gumbatov was detained for stabbing a resident of the village of Zira, Yamen Mammadov. The incident took place on August 11, 2021. Gumbatov's wife told the media that on August 15, Agil called from the pretrial detention center and told them about what had happened to him: "Agil said that he had not caused bodily harm to anyone. He said that a man had loudly approached him on the street and started accusing him of insulting a member of his family. Then this man pulled a knife out of his pocket and started shouting that Agil had stabbed him with this knife. In fact, this man had no injuries at all. However, the police immediately showed up and detained Agil." PFPA activist is being persecuted for criticizing the authorities on social networks. On the eve of his arrest, Agil Gumbatov's Facebook page was hacked and his video messages, in which he demanded the establishment of child benefits, were deleted. Gumbatov was arrested on slanderous charges. In 2020, based on the false testimony of one woman, Agil Gumbatov was placed in a psychiatric hospital.
