Muslim Unity Movement activist Isfandiyar Mammadov was detained on September 23, 2023, by officers from the 14th Police Department of the Sabunchu District of Baku after publishing an anti-war message on Facebook. His relatives learned of his arrest only two days later. But since I. Mammadov is a believer, instead of administrative arrest, as happened in September with regard to other anti-war protest activists, on September 24, 2023, Isfandiyar Mammadov was sentenced to 4 months of imprisonment in a pre-trial detention center during the preliminary investigation.
