Nazim Baydamirli (Mammadov) was born in 1963 in the village of Chay Rasullu in the Gadabay District. From 2005 to 2010, he served as a member of the Azerbaijani Parliament representing the Gadabay District.

On June 20, 2023, residents of the village of Soyudlu in the Gadabay district held a protest, alleging environmental pollution from a nearby gold mining facility. Police violently dispersed the protest. Ten people were injured, and five were detained and arrested.
Following the protests in the village of Soyudlu in the Gadabay district, N. Baydamirli stated that the citizens' allegations regarding the harmful impacts of the nearby gold mining facility on human health and the environment were justified. In response, he was detained on July 4. After his arrest, he called his lawyer and stated that he had been arrested because of his position regarding the unrest in the village of Soyudlu in the Gadabay district. According to the official version of the Ministry of Internal Affairs press service, a citizen filed a complaint with the police claiming that Baydamirli had extorted 50,000 manats ($29,400) from him, threatening to disseminate defamatory footage if he did not comply. According to the complainant, on June 24 of this year, he gave the former deputy 10,000 manats ($5,900), but the latter was not satisfied with this and continued his threats.
