Punhan Karimli, a member of the Khatai branch of the Popular Front Party of Azerbaijan, was detained by officers of the Main Anti-Drug Department and arrested on false charges of drug possession. Karimli lived for some time in Germany, where he actively participated in most of the protests organized by political emigrants in Europe. In November 2021, he was deported from Germany to Azerbaijan and on January 25, 2022, he was detained by officers of the Main Anti-Drug Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Azerbaijan.
