According to investigators, Vugar Rasulov was found in possession of two bags of methamphetamine intended for sale. There is no credible evidence in the case other than the testimony of the police officers who arrested Vugar Rasulov.
Vugar Rasulov himself stated that he considers the sentence unfounded. He cited his activity on his social media page as the main reason for his arrest.
During the trial, State Prosecutor Fariz Rzayev proposed a sentence of 7 years and 6 months in prison for Vugar Rasulov. However, defense attorney Rashad Miriyev deemed the charges against him unfounded. Noting the insufficient evidence, the attorney asked the judge to amend the charges. Judge Azad Majidov found the lawyer's claims justified and changed the article from 234.3.4 to 234.1 (Transportation, storage, etc., of narcotics in excess of the legally established quantity for personal use without intent to sell). He found Vugar Rasulov guilty under 234.1 and sentenced him to three years' imprisonment.
