Public Activist's Father Attacked in Neftchala
Vafa Nagi reports her father was assaulted.
According to public activist Vafa Nagi, her father was attacked at Vusalin Cafe in Kholgaraqashli village, Neftchala region. She shared this information on social media, stating:
A man attacked my father while he was eating, hitting him on the head, scratching his face, and verbally abusing me. The attack on my father was because of me.
Nagi mentioned her father's health has declined since the assault:
He is in bad shape, suffering from a severe headache and breathing difficulties. His condition is worsening.
She has appealed to law enforcement and is demanding the responsible individuals face punishment.
Nagi identifies the attacker and believes the assault is retaliation for her activism.
In 2020, this man threatened a local girl with a gun, forcibly removed her clothes, took pictures, and shared them. He's now retaliating against my family because I exposed that incident. Despite the seriousness of his crime, he only received a three-year sentence due to his wealth and was released. This attack on my father, and the insults directed at me show that violence and impunity persist.
Police have visited her father's home to investigate the incident. The Ministry of Internal Affairs has also reported that they are looking into the matter.
Nagi, who is pursuing a doctorate in Germany, was elected as a municipal member in Kholgaragashli village in 2019. She was a candidate in the parliamentary elections held last year. Although the Central Election Commission declared Tanzila Rustamkhanli the victor, Nagi alleges the win was achieved through fraud.
