Fuad Naghiyev, an activist of the Azerbaijan Popular Front Party (APFP), has been placed under administrative arrest for 30 days.
He is the third APFP member to be administratively arrested in the past week.
The party considers their persecution to be politically motivated.
Faig Naghiyev, the chairman of the APFP’s Khatai district organization, stopped making contact since noon on Wednesday, November 12, the party reported.
Naghiyev was supposed to drive the APFP chairman Ali Karimli to the meeting of the National Council. However, contact with him ceased after he left home, the party noted. It later became known that Naghiyev was administratively arrested for 30 days.
Naghiyev was charged with committing administrative offenses of "petty hooliganism" and "disobeying police."
A week ago, APFP activists Farid Guliyev and Valishan Hasanov were administratively detained on the same charges, the party recalled.
"The charges against all three are false and politically motivated. It is obvious that they were arrested only because they drove, or planned to drive, our party leader Ali Karimli in their personal cars. The number of arrested APFP members on administrative or criminal charges who accompanied Ali Karimli to public events since March this year has reached 11," a party representative stated.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs has not commented on reports of the arrests of APFP activists.
