Arrested Journalist Hospitalized

In Azerbaijan, Shamshad Agha (Aghayev), the head of the website argument.az, who was arrested in the "Meydan TV case," has been hospitalized in a medical facility of the Penitentiary Service due to gastrointestinal problems.
According to the journalist's relatives, his stomach ulcer disease has worsened.
Shamshad Agha was arrested on February 5 in the "Meydan TV case."
He was charged under Article 206.3.2 of the Criminal Code of Azerbaijan (smuggling committed by a group of persons in a preliminary conspiracy).
Currently, 12 people are in custody in connection with this case.
On August 28, the defendants in the "Meydan TV case" had seven more charges added against them.
The arrested individuals do not plead guilty and state that they are being punished for their journalistic activities.
Human rights activists have recognized all the arrested individuals as political prisoners.
