Aytac Tapdiq, a detained employee of MeydanTV, claims that her right to enter into marriage is being violated. According to her, while being held at Baku Detention Facility No. 1, her right to marry is not being respected."Since January, I have been applying with a request to get married, but I am not being provided the necessary conditions to complete the required procedures," A. Tapdiq wrote in her letter.
The journalist emphasized that two months after appealing to the prison administration, she received a response stating that the investigation does not permit her to marry:"As if being imprisoned based on false accusations was not enough, now a baseless, mysterious voice has vetoed my marriage. This ban is a form of pressure both on me and on Kamran Mammadli, the human and animal rights defender whom I wish to marry."
The journalist stated that she will appeal to the court to restore her rights.
So far, it has not been possible to obtain a response from the Penitentiary Service or the Ministry of Internal Affairs regarding this letter.
