On May 27, the trial, chaired by Judge Roman Alakbarli, at the Baku Grave Crimes Court, first clarified the profile information of the accused.

Then, I. Aliyev’s lawyer Rasul Jafarov filed a motion for his client to be removed from the glass cage and sit next to him.

He also requested that the criminal case be terminated, citing the lack of evidence for the accusation, and if this was not done, Aliyev’s pretrial detention be replaced with house arrest.

The court only provided for Aliyev’s removal from the glass cage.

The review hearing was scheduled for June 10.

Imran Aliyev, who was accused of smuggling, was detained in April 2024.

The site's director said that when he was detained, the police beat him and forced him to sign a document by applying electric shock to his body.

The other defendant in the "Meclis.info" case, activist Elgiz Gahraman, was taken into police custody.

He was charged under 8 articles of the Criminal Code. These articles provide for a prison sentence of up to 12 years.

"Meclis.info" is a platform that monitors the activities of the parliament.
